Russia is the world's largest county, almost twice the size of the United States. It covers a big part of Eastern Europe and still a bigger part of Northern Asia. Most of its terrain is rolling plains except for the Ural Mountains, the natural dividing line between Europe and Asia.

Transportation between cities and regions is primarily by the railroad and in the far east and distant Siberia even that is very limited. From sheer size alone, very few highways link the people to one another. About 75 percent of Russian's inhabitants live in urban areas like St. Petersburg, Novsibirsk and the capital city of Moscow. They usually connect by flying on the country's busy airline, Aeroflot.
