San Jose

San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica and the Province of San Jose, is the largest city in Costa Rica. It is located in the center of the country in the shadow of volcanic Mount Iraze. The city has an atmosphere of old Spain, with wide streets and lots of parks. HIghlights include the National Museum and the National Theater. It is possible to reach the city from as far north as Alaska in the United States via the Pan American Highway (Highway 97 through the US and Canada). The Costa Ricans are a pleasant and relaxed people with a slow-paced lifestyle where family and social life comes first.
