Key Biscayne is a small island located six miles off Miami overlooking Atlantic Ocean. Primarily it is a resort community with sandy beaches, boating marinas and water sports facilities.
Highlights on Key Biscayne include Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Recreation Area located on the key's southern tip. The beach here is reportedly one of the most beautiful in Florida. It is very popular with families and offers rentals of beach paraphernalia such as kayaks, beach chairs and hydrobikes.
The historic Cape Florida Lighthouse is also located here. For tours of the lighthouse call ahead to the Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Recreation and Parks at 850- 488-9872.
Weather is warm and sunny year-round with possible storms during hurricane season in late fall.
