"USA Weekend" Names Florida Keys among 10 Most Beautiful Locations in America

Florida Keys, Florida, USA: Summer 2003: "USA Weekend" magazine names the Florida Keys as one of 10 most beautiful places in America in its upcoming special Sunday, May 18, travel issue titled "America the Beautiful."

The weekend supplement, included in almost 600 newspapers around America, is circulated to more than 49 million readers.

To determine the top-10 list, "USA Weekend" editors solicited opinions from travel writers and photographers, polled their own colleagues and talked to outdoor enthusiasts and historic preservationists, according to "USA Weekend" Senior Editor Priscilla Totten. Nominees also had to be publicly accessible and reasonably well-known, she said.

Other winners include Red Rock Country in Sedona, Ariz., the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the upper Mississippi River and Hawaii's Na Pali Coast.

The Keys are the only destination in Florida that made "USA Weekend's" index.
