Virtual Beerfinder
Wisconsin Travel News ( Press Release )
Monroe, Wisconsin, USA. Summer 2003: The Joseph Huber Brewing Company of Monroe, Wisconsin
launched its new huberbrewery.com website today and it has a host of new and improved
features including at least one that the developers think is a first.
The site features a "Virtual Beerfinder" that is designed to help
consumers find the perfect beer --- well, the perfect Huber-made beer -- to "pair"
with various personal taste preferences, types of friends, seasons or cuisine.
"We wanted the site to be full of information, useful to our guests,
friendly and fun --not beer-snooty," said Gary Knowles, Asst. Vice-President. "The
Virtual Beerfinder offers our best recommendations for which of our beers
might be best to serve to your...for example..."Hollywood Type" friends or which
beer to serve at a Muskie Hunt or which beer to serve with a bratwurst. We had
a lot of fun developing this new tool.
The new Huber site also includes:
* Huber Brewery History
* Huber Beer Descriptions & Awards
* A "Virtual" Brewery Tour
* "Ask the Brewmaster"
* Tour Information
* Free "E-mail Postcards" to send to friends
* Blumer's Soda Information
* Berghoff & Blues Information
* Information on the Berghoff Sponsored "Greater Wisconsin Muskie Tournament"
* Sign-up opportunity for the Huber "Brewsletter" (coming soon)
* On-line shopping for Huber & Berghoff merchandise
Knowles said the site also has an "evolving" virtual introduction to
Monroe and Green County with photos of the courthouse square, local cheesemakers,
the Berghoff P.T. Cruiser, Swiss dancers, the Monroe Art Center, Mayor Ross
and a cheese tattoo.
"Monroe and the Huber Brewery have grown up together," Knowles said.
"We're proud of our community and we like to show the world that our home is a
pretty darn nice place.
"We expect that the web-site will continue to grow and change to meet
informational needs of Huber customers. It's a friendly gathering place for Huber
and Berghoff fans - a home base where you'll always feel welcome. We even
have free e-mail postcards to send to your friends."
The Joseph Huber Brewing Company of Monroe (1208 Fourteenth Ave.) was
established in 1845 and is Wisconsin's oldest continuing brewer, the second
oldest in the nation. It produces award wining Berghoff, Huber, Wisconsin Club and
Rhinelander Beers and Blumer's Premium Quality Sodas.
The Huber Brewing Company offers brewery tours every Thursday, Friday and
Saturday. Tour hours are 11AM, 1PM and 3 PM, (reservations not required, but
