A Cruising Experience
Miami Travel Tale
by Lorry Patton ...
Every now and then, I like being greeted flamboyantly by charming staff. I like being served scrumptious meals on
elegant china. I like having my bed turned down, my towels dry, my ice bucket full. Every now and then, I like being
treated like a V.I.P. That's why, every now and then, I like to go on a cruise.
Another reason I like to go on a cruise is because I want to see the world and there just isn't enough time in my life to
spend days or weeks or months in every country on earth. (As much as I wish there was.)
Therefore, in some parts,
not all, but some parts of the world, I'll settle for an hour here, a day or two there . . . I'll settle a walk on the Great Wall, a stroll in the Red Square . . . I know, it's a superficial look and no way to really
'see' a country, but, I can still gather memories -- probably enough to fill a book.
It's not that I don't like traipsing around by train, car or bus, living in pensions, hostels and hotels, I do. However,
anything longer then a week or two of continually moving, packing and unpacking can get a little hairy ( not to
mention grimy. ) I can handle that fine, but, every now and then, I like to run around all day in some foreign port of
call and come nightfall . . . ring room service, maybe get all dolled up, watch a splashy show, go dancing or gamble a
little.
Need I say, that's the way a cruise experience should be and if it hasn't been that way for you, you've been on the wrong ship.
