Getting around Venice is fascinating to say the least. Bridges everywhere crisscross the canals. Gondola captains vie for your attention, offering you deals on the fare. Water taxis go back and forth across the main canal. When we were there, they went on strike without any warning and the people were stuck on both sides. Thank heavens, the strike only lasted one hour.
