Hawaii Weather
Kauai Travel Tip

Weather in Hawaii is consistently pleasant, averaging in the high 70's most of the
time, with only slight changes between night and day and winter (November to April)
and summer (May to October).
Exceptions are in the higher elevations. For example: temperatures on the 10,023
feet high Haleakala volcano on Maui can be 30 degrees lower than the temperatures at
sea level.
In a matter of minutes, a typical winter day in Hawaii can bring showers, wind gusts,
stillness and sunshine. Predicted storms can last for several days, however, they
are usually relegated to the mountainous northeastern sides of the islands. This
mixture of rain, humidity, sunshine and wind produces some of the world's densest
rainforests and the world's most fragrant tropical flowers.
Rainy season runs November through March. Severe storms rarely happen.
Invisible currents can be dangerous, therefore, caution is always advised when
swimming. But even more in the winter months, particularly in the north beaches. Ask
at the hotel before venturing out.
Remember to wear sun screen and a hat even on a cloudy or cooler day. Clouds and
temperature do not block out harmful burning rays. And remember, too, to carry a
sweater of jacket when exploring volcanoes.
