Getting Around Barbados
Barbados Travel Tip
A local bus travels on the main highways in Barbados and Mini Vans cruise the island, picking
up tourists and passengers. The vans can get pretty hairy as they stop abruptly and frequently.
The cost for either bus or van is US $3.
If you decide to rent a car (driving is British style on the left), you'll need a Barbados license.
Licenses are available at the rental agencies. Good roads criss-cross the small nation and it's a
fun way to explore the island.
Although traffic may get snarled and the busses crowded during rush hour, with a maximum
speed limit of 36 miles per hour, things are usually moving at a slow island pace
If you decide to tour or travel by cab be sure to agree on the fare before departing.
