Getting Around Bangkok
Bangkok Travel Tip
Because so many of the prime attractions are along the river, the ferry is the best way to get
around. Hotels located on the river usually have their own shuttles, however, the local ferry is
much more interesting, just take care when boarding.
Every important district has a ferry dock and the people line up as if waiting for a bus at a bus
stop. And if they don't get on this one, another one will come along. Taxis are available and the
prices are fair but if you get stuck in a gridlock you could have probably walked to your
destination quicker.
Busses suffer the same consequences. At one point we were on a bus on a bridge in view of our
hotel about a block away. It took us a half hour to cross the intersection. One passenger
decided to get off the bus and he hurt his leg in the process, because the bridge was not
constructed for pedestrians.
